When you’re not performing, what’s your ideal Aussie getaway location?

Often, I’m lucky in my work to see the best of Australia’s beauty. But when not traveling for work, I do love a relaxed beach holiday on Sunshine Beach, or a good farm stay in rural Victoria, Barossa or even regions south of Perth. Oh, and I can’t forget a visit to Adelaide for the amazing food and wine (and to be a good son visiting the parentals!)

What do you miss about Australia when you travel overseas?

The ease of our – dare I say – lucky country! When you travel, as much as exploring new countries and cultures is exciting, and meeting some incredible people is infectious, we do have a wonderful country, even when in isolation it may sometimes feel like a challenge. Perspective is a fine thing! And of course chocolate. Parts of Europe are a distant second for chocolate, but we win the chocolate race… NO, PUT YOUR HANDS DOWN AMERICA!!

What’s your favourite Aussie meal?

Our amazing Australian food is now an enriched influence of many continents and cultures around the world. So, can I say Melanzane and Spaghetti aglio e olio are some of my favourite Aussie meals? (Full disclosure, I married into an Australian/Italian family).

Why do you think Aussies are so globally renowned in the arts?

From an industry perspective, we are hard workers. Being such a smaller industry in Australia compared to other international territories, we are required to not only multi task, but also get the job done faster with a smaller budget… And talent wise I believe Aussies are up there with the best – even the night after the opening night party!

Tell us a little bit about the show that you and Anthony are doing together?

Basically, an incredible night/matinee of iconic hits from the legendary Elton John and George Michael. This time, Anthony and I are with a band and collaborating with John Foreman and his Australian Pops Orchestra to elevate these classics to another dimension. Anth and I toured last year for the first time together and had a BLAST with our audiences. It was really well received AND we’re still together and married! Most people go to work to get away from their partners, so we decided to do it all again, this time on a whole other musical level.

What’s your favourite Elton John song?

This is a VERY difficult question. It’s like asking which out of your 126 kids is your favourite… But if I had to choose one (OK two), it would be Tiny Dancer, and one of the OGs, Your Song.

What’s your favourite George Michael track?

Again, why do you ask me to choose my favourite child? I’m going for two again – Faith and Outside (I love the ownership of the origins of the story which created the latter).
